Star Trek Wins First Oscar

Star Trek has won their first Academy Award.

Star Trek was nominated in four categories: Visual Effects, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing, and Make-Up, Star Trek XI won an Academy Award for Best Make-Up.

Burman, Hall and Harlow were on hand to accept the award, thanking J.J. Abrams, Bad Robot and their co-workers.

Jeffrey Jacob “J. J.” Abrams is an American film and television producer, screenwriter, director, actor, composer, and founder of Bad Robot Productions. An Emmy  and Golden Globe-winner, he is known as the creator or co-creator of the television series Lost, and Fringe, and as a director of films including Mission: Impossible III and the 2009 feature Star Trek.

In the Sound Editing  and Sound Mixing categories though, Star Trek XI lost out to The Hurt Locker, and Avatar beat out Star Trek XI in the Visual Effects category.

Michael Giacchino (Star Trek XI) won his first Oscar in the Music (Original Score) category for his work in Up.

    high five to star trek i think they should of won the special effects oscar but hey one is better then none
