William Shatner’s comments came after seeing the new Tron: Legacy trailer out this Christmas by Disney.  In the movie Jeff Bridges get De-aged to play a younger villainous copy of himself.

I don’t know if they can solve the problem of how do you put the body I’m in now with the Kirk that we remember forty years ago. They just did a ‘Tron’ with Jeff Bridges and de-aged him but I don’t know how they did that. It’s going to take a lot of electronics on me!

Among the auction’s lots offered were number of iconic props, including guns and communication devices used by the USS Enterprise’s crew, uniforms and other related memorabilia.  One of the auction’s big sales was Ambassador Spock’s gray leather parka and gloves as he is marooned on Delta Vega by Captain Nero in “Star Trek” (Paramount Pictures, 2009) and worn by Leonard Nimoy.

The parka jacket was auctioned with an estimate of $5,000-7,500 but it finally realised $8,960 – a massive £5,985.64!

It was a treat for sci-fi fans to see the actors in each other’s company at Vancouver airport this weekend, after appearing at a Star Trek convention.

At 79-years-old, both were casually dressed,  with Shatner sporting sunglasses and a cream trilby and a Nimoy wearing a baseball cap and glasses. Although the actors are now good friends, they weren’t always so close when the Star Trek TV show first started in the 1960s.

The 600-seat Laemmle Royal Theatre in  L.A. will be showing the first 6 Star Trek Movies over 6 Saturday night starting on June 12th. Also, along with the movies there will also be Q&A sessions with people involved in the films.

Anthony Pascale of TrekMovie.com. will be moderating the event and so if you get a chance, head over to the theatre where it will be $10 for general admission for individual shows and $45 for a six-film ticket.

Patrick Steward aka Captain Jean Luc Picard was knighted yesterday at Buckingham Palace London.  The classically trained actor of both stage a screen thanked his old English Teacher for starting him on his road to acting.

“Although many people in my life have had great influence on me, without this man none of it would have happened,”

“He was the one that put a copy of Shakespeare in my hand [and] said, ‘Now get up on your feet and perform’.”

The 69 year old hero to many is best known for Star Trek: The Next Generation and more recently the X-Men Trilogy has just completed a run a the theatre working alongside fellow X-Men actor Sir Ian McKellen in the stage version of ‘Waiting For Godot’.

Sir Patrick was relaxed after the ceremony and recounted his early beginnings in acting:

“But as I grew up as a child, falling in love with the theatre and Shakespeare, my heroes were Sir Laurence Olivier [and] Sir John Gielgud,”

It has now been announced that Sir Patrick would chair a jury as well as deliver a talk at this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival in Scotland.

If you want to see him in action at the moment then head over to the Minerva Theatre in Chichester where you will see Sir Patrick playing William Shakespeare in the Edward Bond play ‘Bingo’.

It was a short lived record as on May 1st two continents; Tampa in Florida and Bonn in Germany, got together to break the record.

The Europeans gathering was at the FedCon XIX Convention which will receive the certificate from Guinness.  With the record set at a mere 99, FedCon were sure they could beat it with the thousands that visit the convention.

At 1pm those in costume were asked to gather outside for the headcount and although many stayed in lines for memorabilia and autographs a massive 507 was the final head count among the visitors.

Richard Arnold, the poor guy who had to ask the question “What’s the costume?” was the judge to the visitors costume authenticity, those with star gate, star wars or just a pair of ears would not be allowed to be included.

At the same time in the US, at the Vulcan Events Convention in Tampa Florida fans gathered to aid the record however due to Vulcan Events being a lot smaller they still beat the London attempt with a whopping 110.

The auction, hosted by Jullien’s will be at the glamorous Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.  Until now, the items were to be a collection from the new movie which was out in 2009.  Among the items are the Parka Jacket worn by Lennard Nimoy who played a cameo as the older spock in the new movie.  Also to go under the hammer is an array of weaponry and set of futuristic clothing.

Recent reports have now revealed that a private collection from Gene Roddenberry’s home will also be featured.

Among these are treasured handwritten notes by Roddenberry, a model Starship Enterprise from his office and costumes worn by his wife, Majel Barrett, who frequently appeared on the show.

Collectors and fans alike will also be excited to know that William Shatner, the original Captain Kirk, will also be appearing at Julien’s to offer up some memorabilia of his own.

If you are a serious fan or collector this is one not to be missed.

On their website, PushyPixels said in a note on its Web site that the app “has been pulled due to alleged infringement according to Paramount Pictures.”

The app which looked like the Star Trek LCARS (Library Computer Access & Retrieval Systems) display let an ipad user access social network and email in a star trek stylee!

Although the company have said it was original in design and layout, its similarities has meant that they will now kill the app rather than get into any long drawn out legal battle.

So I guess we will have to wait and see if Paramount brings out one of their own…
